Armistice Day 2014 – The India connection.

Today is Armistice Day, which this year commemorates the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landing.
The first photograph depicts WWII Spitfire pilots of Hindu, Sikh and Muslim heritage, taken in 1944. (Image source unknown, information welcome.)


Second photograph, from 1921: The Chattri Memorial in Brighton commemorates the Hindu and Sikh soldiers who died in WWI and is the only one of its kind in Britain.
